STW Challenge for December: Tradition

L

November’s challenge for fall was full of great autumnal shots… warm dishes with rich warm tones, bushes of pears and apples and gorgeous looking pastries, not to mention some pretty hearty soups and stews. Just look at these gorgeous shots. Thanks to all who participated!

For December, I had a ton of different ideas for holiday photo themes… decorated cookies, festive feasts, candlelight, foodie gifts… but ultimately decided that everyone celebrates the holidays in their own way. This month’s challenge is your opportunity to show what your holiday (food) traditions are.

In addition to posting your photos this month, I welcome you to tell a little story about your photo and what it means to you. For example, in my family, we often celebrated the holidays with roast beef and yorkshire pudding… something I’ll be attempting on my own sometime in the next month. Whenever I think of this meal now, I can’t help but think of sitting at the dining table in our old brick house in Georgia, complaining about the vegetable “pollution” on my plate and carefully ensuring that none of the lima-bean ickiness touched my yorkie.

The usual rules and are up on the Flickr group… the things like be constructive, take the photos during the month if possible, 3 photos per person and the last day is December 31st.

Happy Holidays everyone & thanks for playing along with me this year!

  1. Oh no – this is the final Foodography theme too, to be announced tomorrow.
I think I might have to call its demise a month early.
