Today, I ventured out in Seattle to the south, to explore a bit in the industrial section of town in search of some props. OK, some people may have called it getting lost, but I like to call it exploring. And the beauty of exploring is discovery!
Way down on Airport Way, just north of Boeing Field is a little area called Georgetown. Georgetown is an area that is being revitalized… old bottling plants are being converted to art studios, little stores are opening up hosting cute displays of kitchy merchandise, and of course, there are cafes. The one that caught my eye today as I was looking for the stone yard was Two Tartes Bakery and so I backtracked around the narrow little one way streets to find a place to park and poked my head in.
Two Tartes is a bit of a hole in the wall, but the pasteries are beautiful in looks and in flavor. I had a very hard time choosing between a very rustic looking rhubarb scone and the pictured apple tart, and would have gone for both but I only had $3 in my pocket, so I went with the tart. The pastry was amazingly crisp on the outside, with a slightly chewy bite and the apples were not overwhelmed with sugar. Very nice!
In addition to the pastries, they offer a slew of lunch options. They also run a catering business.
If you happen to find yourself down south for some reason, it’s worth a stop in!
